Safeguarding Adults

Safeguarding adults training is very important for anyone working directly with vulnerable groups who may be at risk of harm and abuse and employers must ensure staff complete SGA training within the first 6 months of starting employment, whether working in the statutory, private, voluntary or independent sectors. This course focuses on identifying and reporting possible abuse in line with the new changes including the merger of CRB & ISA to the Disclosure & barring Services (DBS) . This ½ day training course enables candidates to meet the mandatory/legal requirements of Safeguarding Adults. You can also consider the full day training which is suitable for staff developing knowledge to support career development.

Who should attend?

 All staff who come into contact with vulnerable adults; care assistants, auxiliary staff, Community Support Officers, wardens, volunteers, domestic staff, administrative staff/receptionists in health or social care settings

What will you learn?

This course will provide you with the knowledge and understanding of key aspects to safeguard adults in health and social care to live life free from harm and abuse.

Course Content

  •  Who is a vulnerable adult
  • What is meant by abuse
  • How to recognise abuse – the signs and indicators
  • Risk factors in relation to adult abuse
  • Local policies and procedures in safeguarding adults
  • What to do if you suspect abuse is occurring
  • Who to report concerns to
  • Recording and completing disclosure forms.

Course Duration

Half day (three hours) Maximum number of 15 candidates. This course is taught at one of our venues or delivered onsite.

Assessment and certification

This course is delivered by a qualified trainer. Candidates will be assessed continuously throughout the training and will be expected to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the course aims and objectives with a final assessment. Candidates will receive a certificate valid for 12 months and a workbook.
